Our client, a leading mid-sized general contractor is seeking an Intermediate / Senior Estimator to join their team across Canada

Compensation: $80k-150k salary, although exceptions can be made for stellar candidates.

The Estimator reports directly to the Chief Estimator in our Buildings group and will be responsible for performing all facets of a commercial works estimate including quantities, costing and sub-trade analysis for presentation and final review of major items. This position will direct the work activities of other Estimators as required.
As a Senior Estimator you will:
  • Be responsible for all estimating aspects of the Tendering Process, including take offs
  • Adapt toward estimating building construction on a project basis
  • Review proposal specifications and drawings to determine scope of work including scheduling and project planning
  • Provide detailed knowledge of market labour and equipment rates
  • Prepare detailed estimates by calculating complete take-off of scope of work
  • Prepare final estimate summaries, analyzing each section for scope, pricing and completeness
  • Maintain files of working documents as back-up for estimate figures, including current and accurate information on prices from suppliers
Qualifications/Experience:
  • Minimum 10 years’ experience as an estimator in the ICI sector
  • Excellent communication and strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of the construction industry in local market.
  • Experience preparing preliminary estimates in an elemental format is an asset
  • Experience conducting value engineering analysis
  • Proven experience preparing detailed estimates and submitting lump-sum tenders
  • Experience working on complex institutional, commercial, light industrial, multi-unit residential, and civil structures up to $50 Million
  • Proven experience preparing preliminary construction schedules
  • Experience leading design-build teams and preparing design-build proposals
  • Experience working independently and within a team environment
  • Strong computer skills including experience with Sage Estimating (Timberline), and take-off programs
  • Thorough knowledge of construction contracts and trade scopes of work
  • Strong organizational skills and excellent time management abilities
  • Diploma in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or diploma in Building Technology
