Despite concerns around the global economy, the future of Canadian infrastructure remains bright. According to the latest Top100 Project Report, published by ReNew Canada magazine, the 100 largest public infrastructure projects across Canada represent a staggering $300 billion in investment.

Growing Federal Stimulus

Federal investment in infrastructure has increased dramatically in recent years. This funding helps maintain and develop the systems that support the Canadian economy. Infrastructure projects are a huge driver of economic growth, and federal money continues to pour into this sector.

“Infrastructure is the backbone of our society,” said John Tenpenny, Editor of ReNew Canada. “These projects don’t just build bridges, hospitals, and transit systems; they build opportunities, improve quality of life, and ensure our communities thrive.”

“The scale of these projects is unprecedented,” Tenpenny added. “Seventy-three of the Top 100 projects are valued at over $1 billion, with 16 exceeding $5 billion. These investments are reshaping the nation, creating jobs in every province, and addressing pressing challenges in mobility, housing, and sustainability.”

The key question is how long can this stimulus last?

Spotlight on the Top 100 Projects (2025)

The Top 100 projects of 2025 range from healthcare, energy, water, transit, and transportation. Newly added projects include:

  • Weeneebayko Area Health Authority (WAHA) Redevelopment, Ontario – $1.6bn
  • Toronto Western Hospital Patient Tower, Ontario – $800m
  • Red Deer Regional Hospital Expansion, Alberta – $1.8bn
  • Atlantic Science Enterprise Centre, New Brunswick – $600m

As these projects grow larger, it heightens the need for strong technical and commercial acumen among all stakeholders. However, Canada continues to battle a shortage of experienced labor.

Meeting Canada’s Infrastructure Labor Needs

This labor shortage is a challenge that Outpost Recruitment set out to solve in 2012. Since then, we have built a database of talent from all over the world, including:

  • Professionals who are Canadian
  • Professionals who have relocated to Canada permanently
  • Professionals planning their move in 2025 and 2026.

Our network of clients—general contractors, subcontractors, and consultants across engineering, project management, and construction—relies on Outpost Recruitment to find the top 1% of talent, both locally and internationally.

In addition to our dual geographic reach, we focus on building long-term relationships and operating with strong ethics. This approach makes us a trusted talent spotter for a wide range of leading firms. It’s our unique approach to recruiting that sets Outpost apart.

Key Regions and Sectors

Ontario, Quebec, British Columbia, and Alberta have the most active infrastructure markets, due to their larger populations. Transportation, especially public transit, dominates the list with projects valued at $121 billion. Canada invests heavily in rail, light rail, and bus rapid transit to support mass transportation needs across these provinces.

You can see our overview of the top bridge and highway infrastructure projects in 2025 and the rail infrastructure projects for more information.

Healthcare also continues to boom with over $35 billion of live healthcare projects across the nation. These projects provide opportunities in major urban centers and regional locations.

Vancouver and Toronto Remain The Busiest Hubs

Vancouver and Toronto remain the busiest hubs for infrastructure hiring. Montreal is also a strong market, though it often requires French language skills for candidates to succeed. Our national clients appreciate candidates who are willing to take on regional projects because of the lower cost of living and the chance to prove their potential on major builds.
