Ruairi Spillane

Founder & CEO

Born in Ireland, Ruairi Spillane grew up in a family-run Bed & Breakfast near Killarney, where he was constantly interacting with guests from all over the world. Having studied a Bachelor’s degree in Business Studies and a Master’s in Financial Services, Ruairi worked in financial services in Dublin for three years until he was recruited to work in beautiful Vancouver in 2008.

Ruairi quickly adapted to the Canadian workplace but realized that lots of newcomers struggled to differentiate themselves and communicate their value to employers. Having observed the powerful impact of international migrants within multicultural Canada, he set up Moving2Canada.com as an information website to empower newcomers. In 2012, he established his own recruitment agency in order to meet the needs of construction and engineering employers.

Ruairi prides himself on the relationship he has built with Canada’s major construction firms. These relationships were built through strong ethics and the delivery of top class local and international talent.

Ruairi’s strong people skills, technical competence. and lust for learning have helped him excel and to have set himself apart from many of the others in the recruitment industry. In his free time, Ruairi travels extensively and enjoys snowboarding, hiking, and backcountry camping.

Maria Hasson

Originally from Ireland, Maria graduated with a degree in Quantity Surveying at the University of Ulster, Belfast, completing a one-year internship in Boston as part of her degree requirement. Maria traveled extensively in Asia, Australia, and New Zealand after graduating in 2008.

When an opportunity to work in Canada came her way, she jumped at the chance to experience life abroad and Canadian culture in 2009. With 10 years of Canadian experience Maria has gained expertise in estimating, quantity surveying, contract management and achieved her MRICS designation. Maria has robust industry knowledge and has been involved on a variety of commercial, residential high-rise, institutional, healthcare, mining and oil and gas projects and will be a great resource for both our local talent and newcomers.

Maria is well rehearsed in measurement, budget compilation, value engineering, CCDC contract documentation, and client interface. Her personable approach, eagerness, and technical skill set complements her ability to mentor candidates and understand the value they can provide to our clients and industry. Maria relates well with individuals making the move to a new country and can help overcome the challenges of finding the right career opportunity.
